AZERBAIJAN AND KHERSON STATE MARITIME ACADEMIES BECAME PARTNERS

Last week, it was finally completed the procedure for signing a cooperation agreement between Kherson State Maritime Academy and Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy.
Communication on initiating cooperation and discussing its’ possible directions began about two years ago. Both maritime academies are one of the best maritime educational institutions not only in Ukraine and Azerbaijan, but also in the Black Sea and Caspian sea basins. This was one of the reasons for such a detailed discussion of cooperation, which was supposed to be enshrined in the relevant agreement.

If Kherson State Maritime Academy, together with the Lithuanian Maritime Academy (Klaipeda) is the basic foundation for the development of cooperation between maritime academies and universities from different countries, which, in turn, is an important segment of the overall international project of establishment the corridor for effective cooperation from the Baltic to Central and South Asia States, coordinated by the international team of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum, Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy is by right one of the basic maritime educational institutions in the Caspian Sea countries.

After the restoration of state independence of Azerbaijan in 1991, on the basis of the Baku Naval Academy by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on July 15, 1996 there was established Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA), which in 2000 was included under number 012 in the catalog of Maritime Educational Institutions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The agreed text of the cooperation agreement was signed by Kherson State Maritime Academy on September 7, 2021 by the Rector of Academy, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Vasyl Cherniavskyi.

Finally, Kherson and Azerbaijan State Maritime Academies have become partners since the signing of the cooperation agreement by the Rector of Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Heydar Khanish oglu Asadov and the transfer of one copy to Kherson at the end of the last week.

It should be noted that maritime education in Azerbaijan (Baku) has its roots in 1881, when the Baku mayor announced the opening of the Seafaring Class on November 21, 1881 in Baku.
