VISAGINAS AND HOLA PRYSTAN – A COMMON PATH TO THE FUTURE

08.05.2025

The deputies of the Lithuanian city of Visaginas at their regular session on April 24 supported the signing of a protocol of intent on cooperation and partnership with the Ukrainian city of Hola Prystan.

Having passed, having signed the protocol of intent, the first legal stage on the path of cooperation, the leaders of the Ukrainian and Lithuanian cities immediately moved on to the practical stage of its implementation.

A plan for organizing horizontal partnerships is being jointly developed to establish cooperation between institutions, organizations and enterprises of the city of Hola Prystan, which after the evacuation carry out their work in the territory controlled by Ukraine and institutions, organizations and business representatives of the Lithuanian city of Visaginas.

The intensification of this work should contribute to the unification of the residents of the city of Hola Prystan, who are temporarily forced to live in different cities of Ukraine and abroad, the creation and strengthening of a single Hola Prystan Ukrainian space (including the information component for residents remaining in the temporarily occupied territories), the preservation of the human potential of Prystan after its reoccupation and the ability to quickly restore the effective operation of all institutions and organizations of the city and have a functioning business environment for economic recovery.

For this purpose, plans and a list of possible projects for joint implementation are already being developed in the following sectors:

- education (from the territory controlled by Ukraine, three supporting schools of the city of Hola Prystan and the Municipal Institution "Inclusive Resource Center" carry out a continuous educational process, covering the education of about 1,800 children of the city);

- in the field of medicine (representatives of the management and medical personnel of medical institutions of the city are on the territory controlled by Ukraine);

- in the field of culture (cultural workers and creative groups of the city are on the territory controlled by Ukraine and abroad);

- in the area of sports (representatives of the city's sports community are in the territory controlled by Ukraine and abroad);

- in the area of economics (based on representatives of the city's business community who are in the territory controlled by Ukraine and abroad).

A separate plan of activities is being developed to provide information support to city residents who are planning to evacuate from the temporarily occupied Hola Prystan and to assist them upon arrival in Lithuania.
