UKRAINIAN KHERSON AND POLISH GDYNIA NOW SISTER CITIES

Today, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk, President of the Polish city of Gdynia Aleksandra Kosiorek and the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanko, signed an agreement establishing Kherson and Gdynia as sister cities.

Work to organize multilateral cooperation between enterprises, institutions, and organizations in the Polish city of Gdynia and the Ukrainian city of Kherson was initiated seven years ago by the international team of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum (Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian Forum). Given that the Lithuanian city of Klaipėda is a sister city to the Polish city of Gdynia, and that multilateral cooperation between institutions, organizations, and enterprises in Klaipėda and the Ukrainian city of Kherson is actively developing, the initiative to establish a similar partnership between Kherson and Gdynia created a unique partnership triangle (in the context of the development of the trilateral "Lublin Triangle").

The first was a memorandum signed on April 2, 2019, between the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum and the modern seaport of Gdynia.

By the end of 2019, the Kherson Maritime State Academy and the Gdynia Maritime University became partners, signing a partnership agreement on December 16, 2019.

A year later, on December 16, 2020, a partnership and cooperation agreement were ceremoniously signed between Kherson Gymnasium No. 16 and School No. 26 in Gdynia.
